The short answer to the question asked in the title of this article would be yes.
But a lot of Nigerians do not agree. It’s fine though, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But let me explain why Omotola returning to our screens in all her sexy glory three years after her last appearance would definitely not lead to the end of her marriage.
Omotola Jalade Ekeinde is a professional to the core. Since she her introduction in the 1995 film Venom of Justice, her career has been nothing short of stellar. This is probably part of the reason why she was picked by the prestigious Time Magazine as one of its most influential people in the world in 2013. Simply put, she has gotten to that level where she cannot appear in mediocre movies.
Her comeback film Alter Ego sees her play Ada Igwe, a woman who creates multiple personalities to deal with issues she is facing. In one of the scenes in the movie, Omosexy appears almost nude alongside various other actors.
Please note that I said almost naked, and not fully nude. But this was enough to get Nigerians riled up with many of them commenting that “she is a married woman, how can she do this”, “how would her husband feel about this.” Well, let me inform you that Omotola probably had the support of her husband before she took this role. She decided to play the role after being informed that it would involve several sex scenes. This is enough reason for one to know that she knew what she was getting into. And besides, it’s her job. Her husband and family know this by now and are okay with it.
Another reason why Omotola had to take this role would be the emergence of the new school of Nollywood actresses like Adesua Etomi, Kemi Lala Akindoju and Somkele Idhalama who are steady becoming the go-to actresses in Nollywood. Even though she is already famous, Omotola needed to show the whole world that she could still cut it as an actress.
She confirmed this recently to Hip TV where she said “For some time I have been looking for a script that would challenge me. And after searching for three years, I found that script, the film Alter Ego.”
There you have it folks, Omotola can still be a role model to your daughters.
