A medical student, Manushi Chhillar has emerged winner of the Miss World 2017 pageant. This year's version was held in China with over 108 beauties from around the world competing for a place and 39 finalists fighting for the crown.

Chhillar had always dreamed of becoming a beauty queen but never thought she would make it that far. Speaking after being crowned, she said: ”As a kid, I always wanted to participate in the competition but I never knew I would make it this far. Winning the Miss World title is now not just my dream, but also that of my family and friends. I know it’s going to be a journey that I will never forget. Whatever the result, I am going to learn, enjoy and give it my best. The rest, I leave to destiny.”
Manushi who is from Haryana also won Head to Head Challenge and the Beauty with a Purpose titles during the course of the competition.
Miss World 2016 winner Puerto Rico's Stephanie Del Valle passed on the coveted crown to the new titleholder, Manushi Chhillar.
Miss England emerged first runner-up and Miss Mexico, second runner-up.
